Steve Jobs was an American businessman as well as inventor. He is widely recognized as an enigmatic pioneer of the pc revolution. As a chief executive officer, founder and chairman of Apple Inc, no one can ever forget the contribution he made to the world of pc and mobiles. Before apple, he was a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company. Let us take a look at his early life.
Steve Jobs biography
Steve Jobs was born in 1955 in San Francisco. His parents were university students, Abdulfattah and Joanne Carole. Paul and Clara Jobs adopted him as both his parents were unmarried at that time. Soon, Jobs family moved to Mountain View, California and soon his parents adopted a daughter, Patti. Steve was taught about on how to work with his hands by his machinist father and rudimentary electronics. His mother, who was an accountant, taught him to read and write before he went to school.
Jobs went to Monta Loma Elementary, Cupertino Junior High and Homestead High School in Cupertino, California. After graduating in 1972, he enrolled at Reed College. There he spent the night s on the floors of his friends’ rooms and returned Coke bottles for money for food.
Shortly after 1974, Jobs left for India, in search of spiritual enlightenment. He stayed there for about 7 months and spent time traveling from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh and back, then up to Himachal Pradesh and back. He returned to US, wearing traditional Indian clothing and his head shaved.
Jobs and Steve Wozniak met in 1971, when 16-year-old Jobs was introduced to 21-year-old Wozniak. The first computer lab of apple was set up in garage in 1976. Intel product-marketing manager and engineer Mike Markkula funded their project. Mike Scott from National Semiconductor was recruited by Apple in 1978, to serve as CEO. Rob Janoff created the Apple logo that came up in 1977.
In the early 1980s, Apple Lisa was created and one year later Macintosh got invented by employee Jef Raskin.
Steve Jobs is believed to be the charismatic director for Apple, although some of his employees described him as an unpredictable and moody manager. An internal power struggle developed between Jobs and Sculley, layoffs, led to disappointing sales.
Jobs resigned from Apple some time and set up NeXT Inc. In 2005, he gave a speech at Stanford University that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have happened. He was now in the most creative period of his life.
In 1996, Apple bought NeXT for $429 million and Jobs was again brought back to the company he co- founded. He is known to have terminated a number of Apple projects such as Cyberdog, Newton and OpenDoc.
In 2011, the news of Steve Jobs resigns as CEO of Apple made headlines all over the world. This was associated with his failing health as he had been diagnosed with cancer in 2003. His choice of following a special alternative medicine diet perhaps led to his early death.Jobs died at on October 5, 2011 at his California home around. His wife, children and sister were at his side. Steve Jobs death was announced by Apple which also mentioned that the world was definitely a better place because of Steve .
With Steve Jobs dead now, there will always be an everlasting vacuum that will never be filled again.
